Work-life Balance Initiatives
SIE has in place a variety of policies and workplace improvements that respect the balance between work and family life to enable all employees, regardless of gender, to reach their full potential in a way that suits their individual lifestyles.
In Japan, SIE created this plan of action based on the Act on Advancement of Measures to Support Raising Next-Generation Children, and was certified with the Kurumin Mark, a symbol bestowed upon companies that support child rearing, three times in recognition of the accomplishment of the goals set.
Initiatives to Promote Understanding of the LGBT Community
SIE strives to provide LGBT* employees with a working environment that respects their individuality and allows them to be themselves without facing discrimination or prejudice.
In Japan, initiatives include expanding certain human resources programs for spouses to same-sex partners (such as marriage bonuses, bereavement leave, and invitations to company events). Additionally, SIE actively works to increase awareness of LGBT issues, such as by sponsoring TOKYO RAINBOW PRIDE 2018 and exhibiting a booth at the event.
*LGBT stands for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender. The expression is broadly used to refer to individuals of diverse sexuality.
International Women's Day Participation
Each year on March 8th, International Women's Day*, various events and activities promoting awareness are held around the world with the aim of empowering women. Sony Interactive Entertainment embraces the values that guide IWD’s ethos, and for this occasion, has put together a video of voices of our women colleagues. *International Women’s Day is one of several ‘international’ days that originated from early 20th century movements calling for the elimination of discrimination against women and the improvement of women's status. IWD was first celebrated on March 8, 1975 - International Women’s Year. Its anniversary has been commemorated on that day ever since.
